Currently the building code is R-50 or about 17" of insulation total. However, it is moving towards an R-60 soon!

Attic Rain is a situation where accumulated humidity gets into the attic, freezes to the sheeting of the roof and then when warm weather comes in the form of Spring or a Chinook, will melt and "rain" down to the floor of the attic.
